Tropical Depression 2 Forms near the Bahamas

Recon went out today on a disturbance which was attached to a dying frontal boundary yesterday.  They determined the front has disappeared, and the low is closed.  Thus, the National Hurricane Center has upgraded Invest 98L to Tropical Depression 2.  Further upgrade to TS Bret is likely by tomorrow.

Preliminary information:

  • Sustained Winds: 35mph
  • Movement: South at 2mph
  • Minimum Pressure: 1010 mb
  • Location 27.5N 78.2W (Just north of the Bahamas)
  • Forecast to move NNE to NE over the next few days as  Tropical Storm Bret
  • Could get as strong as 60 mph
More updates later.  Go USA!
