Breaking News: Tropical Storm Arlene Forms

Ok, scratch the current data that I put in the last post.  The National Hurricane Center decided to upgrade 95L to Tropical Storm Arlene at 8pm.  The current information is below:

  • Location: 21.2°N 93.7°W
  • Maximum Winds: 40 mph
  • Minimum Pressure: 1003mb (Don’t know where this came from)
  • Movement: WNW at 7 mph
  • Tropical Storm Warning: Barra de Nautla to Bahia Algodones, MX
I am a little bit surprised they upgraded so soon.  The recon did not support the 1003, and as far as I know neither do any buoys in the area. The winds are well removed from the center to the northeast.
I’ll update again after the 11pm advisory and 00Z models are run (probably closer to 1am).
