Recon Flying Toward 95L
Recon decided that the current conditions around Invest 95L warrant a hurricane hunters flight today. They are currently en route toward the Bay of Campeche. They will be out there for a few hours doing investigations on wind speed, direction, and pressure. This mornings ASCAT and WINDSAT passes were inconclusive but did show that there may be a weak circulation there. Recon will give instrumental information for 95L. I will be doing updates on twitter @JonathanBelles throughout the flight. The flight will likely end around 5pm CT (I will be using Central Time due to location of the system), and I will have a new blog post within the following 2 hours. As of the 8am ET update, the NHC gave this system a 50% chance of development, which I now agree with due to better organization and increased over water convection.
On a quick note, the Florida Panhandle is under a slight risk of Severe Weather today. I will be monitoring this as well. A few scattered storms may go severe by mid afternoon with the enhanced sea breeze.
